preservation virginia logoYesterday, Preservation Virginia listed their annual list of the most endangered historic sites in Virginia.  Seeing the pictures of these neglected and dilapidated sites that carry so much history within their walls and grounds is heart breaking.  Hopefully, with the release of this latest list, a few properties will receive the care and attention they deserve.

2.  Cornland School, Chesapeake

3.  St. Francis De Sales School, Powhatan

4.  Taylor Hotel, Winchester

5.  Warm Springs Historic Bath Houses, Warm Springs

7.  Warwick Town, Newport News

8.  Historic Family Cemeteries Across the Commonwealth

10.  Morrisena, Albemarle County

Jeremy - nice comment....  Seriously though, Tina, preserving our landmarks is so crucial.  I love to see Raleigh step up to the plate and not always be building new stuff.

Thank you for this information although I don't know about the Old Albemarle Jail being endangered...they just built a new court building beside it and which can be seen in the photo. Charlottesville and Albemarle are extremely wealthy and have perserved acreage and buildings often to the detriment of traffic and commerce.

It was interesting to find out that one was in Alexandria VA.  Thank you for sharing.

Virginia has plenty of attractive historical sites. We recently come back from Shenandoah Valley and spent one week. We visited Shenandoah National Park, Natural Bridge and New Markey Battlefield State Park.
We stayed at “Woodruff Inns” it was really beautiful hotel and worthwhile to stay. The room was clean and ambiance as well. The hotel staff was hospitable and serving the delectable Shenandoah bed and breakfast.

Best Regards,
