When I'm teaching a class on social networking to real estate agents, I am often asked "what's the point"? Well, with Zolve, Linkedin and ActiveRain, the answer is pretty obvious. But, what about Facebook? Can using Facebook really benefit the agent?
The answer is YES!
Here is how......
1. Feed your blog posts to Facebook - keep your friends and clients updated on what you are doing and thinking about.
2. Become a "friend" to everyone you went to high school and college with - they are the ones who know you, yet probably don't know that you now sell real estate.
3. Become a "friend" to your former clients. This is a great way to keep up with what is going on in their lives.
4. You can add a listing feed to your Facebook wall as well as a separate page for just real estate.
5. Each day you get a list of your friend's birthdays - what a great excuse to make contact!

TINA!!! I hope we are connected on Facebook, I'll have to go check :) I have it primarily to connect with the people I went to high school with (in Turkey) but also use it for locals, other Realtors, etc. Great that you are sharing with others!! Let's connect!
(I JUST GOT MY HANDWRITTEN CARD FROM YOU ----------- SO SWEET!!!!! Made my day! Post coming )
Tina - Excellent list of the unique benefits of Facebook. Simple things like the birthday reminder actually makes a big difference. Thanks for sharing.

I enjoy facebook, but so many friendship requests, if they would just take a few key strokes and tell me how they knew me, which app to you like best for the blogfeed. I think I am using them all and it is a little messy so I was thinking of not doing all but one.
I do not use facebook . Active Rain takes up enought time. But your post makes me want to look into it.
Gita - take a look. Once you set it up, it takes only 5 minutes each day.
Missy - you are right - i prefer to only "friend" people I actually know too!
Zoltan - I LOVE the Realbird feed to Facebook! Thanks for commenting!
Kim - you are very welcome and I'll be sure to connect with you too!

hi Tina, re "Become a "friend" to everyone you went to high school and college with - they are the ones who know you, yet probably don't know that you now sell real estate"...
Absolutely, no matter what biz we're in, we never really know where our next client will come from. Having a wide circle of friends as possible just opens up so many possibilities!
I'm learning sooo much from you and hope I can repay you one day for all your generosity!
Tina,
I am in the process of developing my facebook site.. I kind or dropped the ball for awhile. Your post has me back on track! Hope to see you in my friends list soon.
Marti - thanks for the feature and reading my blog! You are correct, your circle can never be too large!
Myra - you are very welcome and the only payback I need to see is your happiness and success.
Cat - hope to see you as a friend on Facebook soon!

Its all about Digital Touching!
Tina - I do all these things and people are visiting from Facebook as I can see it from the mybloglog tracking system.
I wasn't aware one could do that. I'll have to give it a try because right now, Facebook has been kind of ignored by me.
Tina: Thanks! I have been curious about Facebook, but have not had time to investigate it yet. Will do so immediately after reading this post! Thanks again! Steve
Justin - that doesn't sound legal!
Bill - of course you do! You are my idol!
Jerry - look forward to seeing you on Facebook.
Steve - good luck and I look forward to seeing you on Facebook.

I am on Facebook as well. I want everyone to know what I do. I have so much I yet want to do, with Internet networking and marketing. Thanks for the encouragement.
I am with L&F as well! I have spoke to people up here thinking of VA Beach.
I will keep you in mind.

I just started on Facebook and I love it. I think it is an easy, great way to stay in touch. I can't wait to get some tips from you on how to make my facebook better... guess we'll have to have a nail appointment!!
I just joined facebook and also thought what am I doing this for I already have enough on my plate. Then all of the sudden I had two requests for friends, the loan officer that I use for all of my personal loans and someone I know from NY. Very cool. I definitely need to spend more time on it.
Thanks for the reminder on this. I still have about 8 friends that I need to confirm who have contacted me, but have been putting it off because of being too busy...
Facebook has a great application for your web-based phone too. No excuses!!!!
My general manager uses a Facebook group to solicit information from real estate professionals in other areas that she then rolls up into community blog posts (with appropriate credit of cource to the sources). It's kinda neat how people join her group just to contribute.
